Hi everyone.
I'm going to be pausing the post on the Writing Journey for a while because I've found it difficult to write. I want to write, but at the same time, I don't want to write at all. And, for that reason, I'm going to see if I can lift my spirits and try to gain my yearning for writing back (I asked for some advice from Raychel Rose, an amazing author, over at her blog and kindly answered me. It's question 8). Please check her out, she's amazing! Once more, thanks everyone for everything and I hope I'll be able to start writing blog posts and stories again!

Today we're going to be talking about reliable writing resources. Everyone has those go-to sites that help them get new story ideas and/or just help them write better. But how can we determine whether their dependable or not?
Truly this is a personal decision, as all of us are different, yet there are a few tricks I've found over the years that have proven quite helpful in picking writing sources:
I've decided that I wanted to do a writing series, not only do I want to post more about writing, I wanted to talk about a few things. They aren't necessarily writing tips, but I do want to share some writing advice that I've gotten through the years. The first thing that I'll be talking about is: Making A Memorable MC I have a ton of great MC's. I have little Abbie from my WIP Another Imagination and I've got Ebinicah James from my paused WIP Ebinicah James and the Crystal Orb. I know Rehe only reason I've said two MC's is because I'm working on some secret books and I don't want to reveal who the main characters are just yet. Yet all of these main characters started out like normal ordinary people. They had something special that inspired us to write a book about THEM and THEIR journey.
Here are some questions I asked myself whenever I made a new MC:
After that step, I have one thing I must accomplish with my MC before I begin to write them: LEAVE. I put my character away for a few days, I don't think about the story (even though I end up thinking about it in the end), mention the character and I just go about my life. Then I go back to my MC to see if they're still fresh and new feeling (because I don't want a reader to be so into one of my books and then they, reluctantly, put down the book and come back to it later to just wanting to put it down again... Does that make sense?) There we go! My three handy-dandy steps I use to make a memorable character.
Oh goodness, I haven't made a post here in a long time. Well, one of the reasons is that I haven't been writing. I was taking a bit of a break before I start editing Another Imagination. And that takes me too my 2016 writing goals.
And that's it! I know it should be waaaaay longer (in my opinion), but all of this is going to take a long time. Ebinicah James and the Crystal Orb is suppose to kind of be like Harry Potter, Percy Jackson and some other random awesome book all smashed into one book. I have a lot on my hands (yayyyaaayyyy....). Looking for the right agent is going to be difficult because I want to find the one. And I don't want to self-publish, that's also a reason. I was thinking about putting my book up on Amazon as an e-book and wait for someone to notice me there.... BUT there are so many authors already doing that and I don't want my book to stay there (just as an e-book, with no agent or publisher). Editing Another Imagination is going to be a tad bit more difficult than I had anticipated. The only reason being that some (maybe most) of my characters seem a bit flat, there needs to be more description of scenery, I need to slow down some conversations, maybe even add a few more conversations and realistically show an adult in an eight year old's POV (for those who don't know, POV stands for point of view). That may sound like normal editing to some people, but this is going to be my first time editing a book. Not a school paper. What are your 2016 Writing Goals? Now, I'm going to tell you the secret to writing. The secret is: believe in yourself that you can create worlds without end. Believe in yourself that you can create the most perfect (or as perfect as you can get) villains and heroes/heroines. Believe in yourself that you can create a book that makes your readers smile, laugh, cry, and sad.
All you have to Believe. Some writers like to type their manuscript up or to write it. For me, I write it on the computer, because, my hands just type away. I don't have control over them. They release my inner anger onto my MC, they release my inner happiness and make the most beautiful world, they create creatures that have never existed before and all I do is watch. My fingers try so hard to make a world that can't be compared to anything there is before. Other writers like to use pen/pencil and paper (I'm kind of jealous because most writers who write on paper have such neat handwriting... and sometimes they use calligraphy pens, but their work is still so gorgeous). Writing on paper for me, actually makes me have the most writers block (which is super strange because I just do the same thing I would do if I'm writing on the computer). But, that's just for me. Others have the same... what's the word... Magic when they're writing on paper, which I think is amazing. Whenever I write, I've got to get inspired to write about what I want to. Like, if I want to write about the Civil War and I do a bunch of research about it, but when I start writing it,I don't want to write it. I'm not in the mood to. I don't feel as if this is the story I should be writing, when there is something else in my heart saying, 'I'm the one. Please story ignoring me and let our destiny be fulfilled.' So I start a new story, and leave that Civil War story for another day. Sometimes, I have the same reaction that I had with the Civil War book, so instead I decided to do a brand new story. A story that I didn't even know existed. And it's the NEW BOOK that I'm writing. So I'm really excited that I finished a whole chapter for it in a week; and it's a really great. But, it's that I believed in myself that I could write a story. It's the greatest feeling to actually believe in yourself and someone who encourages you enough that they have started in the path of their own dream (right now, I'm talking about Charisma and the Go Teen Writer Community. They have been such a blessing in my life that it is unbelievable.) Not only has the Go Teen Writer Community made me a better writer, it has made me believe in myself way more than I ever had before. Thank you! (Writing my Fan Fiction Story Tomorrow, not today. Sorry!) Hey Everybody!
Today actually might be the last time I'm posting in here because of the holidays. And then when the holidays are over, I'll be posting again! So just wanted to inform you of that! :3 Thanks and please comment! ~Bianca Hello Everybody! Today, I wanted to talk about my Christmas Writing Schedule! I decided that if I had a schedule to follow, then I won't be constantly saying in my head 'Oh no! I forgot to write today!'. Also, it's always a good idea to set-up a schedule for writing, so that YOU KNOW to put away everything that you're doing and decide to write. So, here goes my schedule! If you would like to give me advice or writing tips, please do so in the comments, I so do not mind! Thanks and please comment!
~Bianca Hey Everybody! When I'm writing, I like to listen to music, to get my inspiration moving. So here are some songs that I like to listen to! You don't have to listen to all of them, there are just some of the songs that I really like listening to!
Thanks and please comment! ~Bianca Hey Everybody! I guess this can be another hint, but it's not really one. Because I'm talking about characters! Go Teen Writers is SUPER helpful! Unbelievably! I've learned how to writer better, organize my characters, they even have posts on how to organize your ideas more efficiently (which I need to do). As you all know, I have a TON of characters to start putting together. And it feels as if I'm doing a 2,000 piece puzzle and I have a time limit. It's really hard. But, I've got Charisma! She's so nice...
Also, my creative writing class has started! And I'm sooooo glad it did! (I needed some extra help.) And then there's going to be another one starting in the next school semester (so January, I think)! I'm just so happy! Thanks and please comment! ~Bianca Hey Everybody! As writers, we all think about be published, getting millions and millions of dollars and speak in front this giant crowd (that part actually scares me). But have we all asked the question... "What makes me, ME?" And as we ALL love Winnie the Pooh (and just want to hug him) this is the most inspiring quote ever. (I even have it as my background.)
And in a writers case, this is so very helpful! You can leave it as it is or just change the words a bit. "The things that make my book different are the things that make me." What makes you? Tell me in the comments! ~Bianca |
I am the Smol Scribble. I came to realize that, even though the first drafts of books aren't perfect, they are the closest to my heart...
