Hello Twisters~ I'm ready to start some new stories! I have a couple stories to write, but I only have the time to start writing one at present. This story is set in the same universe as Jorge McGregory, but this time, I am going to be looking at a different group of individuals. This group is supposed to visually represent a type of angelic version of Zenyatta, but human(-ish). I'm not sure what their world is supposed to look nor their history. I'm also not sure what I'm supposed to do with their Beloved. Their Beloved, in a way, is kind of like the god they worship. With that being said, I only have a good eighth of their backstory finish and their side of the story is part two of the story. In regards to characters, there are two main ones, neither of which have names. One, at present, is being called the Man and the other simply doesn't have a name. The Man is supposed to be the offspring of the Beloved and is supposed to be the ruler of this world. But, the Beloved has made sure that all of his offspring have a physical challenge that they need to overcome, and the Man's challenge is that his wings, at birth, are completely made out of stone. The other character is who the POV is in. They are, at first, just supposed to be a side character because all they're doing is telling the story of the Man and having small interactions with him. It's only until the end does our POV character becoming the main protagonist. I have a lot of planning and background creating to do for this story because I still have to make sure that it still coincides with the world of Jorge McGregory. Regardless, I am excited and I'm ready to dive right in! Until Next Time... Adieu.

I finished a short story recently and, honestly, I have no idea how I feel about it. Jorge McGregory: Obey has a lot of themes in it that I, personally, wasn't sure that I could even write. But as a thriller writer, you're always surprising yourself, right?
Let's talk about the world. A fantasy world where the main foundation is religion. This helps readers form their opinions right from the start. The nation that Jorge lives in is built on the sole living existence of The Tree, which is pretty much the source of power for the whole world. There are two main religions, but I'm sure that there are more in different nations, but I haven't covered anything beyond this current story. Having religion is having a social status in this world. If you have a high role in your set religion, then you have a high role in society. And the parents of Jorge had that specifically. Now, on to the characters. Jorge, I love him. He is such an emotional character, but he's so vulnerable to painful emotions which make it difficult for him to trust. He is patient, but he hated his life. He is smart, but he couldn't escape. He is loving, but only when he needs to be. He loves his religion, more than anything. His religion is the only thing keeping him alive. Iggy Jewel, Jorge's mother, is smart and clever. She thinks outside of the box on how to catch her enemies and she is very good at enticing her prey. She's very beautiful and kind, which makes her easier to approach and she absolutely adores her religion. After all, she would do anything for it. Luke McGregory, Jorge's father, is kind, loving, and strong. He loves his son with all of his heart, but a part of him is dripping with guilt and hatred. His outward appearance reflects his personality as well as his attitude towards life. Just like Iggy, he loves his religion, just as much as he loves Jorge. Next, let's talk about the theme. I wanted to explore the mental boundaries of an obedient child. For example, how would a seven-year-old react to their parents getting a divorce? Would they understand the depth of the situation? What would their initial reaction be to the situation? Would the child choose a parent over the other? There are so many possible questions and outcomes to what looks like a simple situation. And that single situation could change drastically depending on if the child was older or younger or even if we looked at the situation through the eyes of the parent. That's what I want to explore. I want to explore the deeper end of the spectrum of what many people might think 'are good and positive messages'. That way, if I am able to show others how powerful small, simple words are then maybe, just maybe, more people would think before they speak. Now, let me go back to the very beginning and answer the question: "What is it about the story that you're uncertain about?" I'm uncertain about my approach that I took. The concept is really intriguing and the characters are life-like, but the story as a whole is very... unsettling. Being the first draft, I know it'll get better in the future, I understand that. Yet, I wrote it as a thriller. Would the message I'm trying to convey be heard through a genre that is already hard to understand? Was it wise for me to put a good amount of dark themes into the story? How would the readers connect with the characters? Would they only feel pity for one of them or all of them? As a thriller writer, these are the questions that I have to keep in mind. I don't want to scare off my audience, but then again, I don't want them to necessarily enjoy the journey either. This story was a short story. It is currently around 5,000 words long and is undergoing first draft beta reading by my family. I AM participating in Camp NaNoWriMo this year, I just have to finish summer school (which I'm planning on finishing this week). Thank you for reading and I hope you have a pleasurable day! Look who's alive! Me! And I'm doing NaNoWriMo again this year. I've done NaNoWriMo for two years, (my first year was Ebinicah James and the Crystal Orb which was done during 2014), this is my third year and I am so excited! YWP, that's the platform I'm working on this year, got a face lift (yippee!) and now I can write my novel on the actual site. The new site is more clean and slick and since it's brand-new, it's still in BETA (which is kind of sad). That means no friends (yet), no private messaging (yet), no 'watched threads' (yet), etc. Yet I'm not here to complain, I'm here to share my story with you! BUT FIRST, I have to tell you the reason why I've been gone. School. Okay, here's my story blurb. A strange journal. A mysterious Manor. An unbeatable enemy. Doesn't that sounds like a book you would read? Jemima is a fifteen year old girl and Hawthorn is either seventeen or eighteen (I actually haven't decided).
ANYWAYS, I'm around 17,000 words into this 50,000 word novel but I'm trying to get ahead. I'm thinking that I'll be able to do some character cafe's soon enough (character cafe = character interview), but I'm not going to promise anything though (because last time I promised stuff... I didn't keep it. D:). Later on in life I'll have blog posts on how I got inspiration for my book, who the characters are, and what I'm listening to right now while writing this crazy book, etc. And that's everything! Again, I'm really sorry that I've been gone for so long and I'll do my best to post more often. Thanks everyone! I'm going to start righting this week! I am super excited, yet I'm just a little bit scared, because I haven't written so long. BUT THAT WON'T STOP ME NOW!!! :L
Yup, I'm excited. I'm going to be finishing the story that I started in March, because it's a really good story, but when that's finished, I'm going to start up a story revolving around samurai, their society, along with their honor code and faith. I want it to be a Historical Fiction (this will be my first one) although, I'm going to have to do a lot of research for this book. I don't want it to be a series, I want it to be a stand alone. If I had to do a series, I would just make a timeline order book series. They would all still be stand alones, yet I would make cameo appearances of characters from past books and/or have past characters become legends that the heroes look up to. In short, I've got a whole lot planned for this book. And I am really excited. Thanks for reading! Forgive me for not doing the Authors' Series. The only reason I haven't posted anything for such a long time is because I haven't been onto the blog for quite some time (and my Spring Break was last week). I'll be restarting the series somewhere between next week and the week of April 4th.
Recently, my mother showed me a video on how a girl (I think she's 13?) made her own company, made her own animation show and did a lot of other things and she's still going to school and having a normal life. I thought that was very inspiring and that made me think: why not make my own animation show? I haven't been writing a lot and I do want to get back into the flow of being a writer, but I don't want to write a full length novel. And I thought that it might be easier to just write an episode a time (not only would the plot be more interesting, it wouldn't be as hard). I know that writing an episode would be a bit difficult for me, yet I'm willing to try! I've decided that I wanted to do a writing series, not only do I want to post more about writing, I wanted to talk about a few things. They aren't necessarily writing tips, but I do want to share some writing advice that I've gotten through the years. The first thing that I'll be talking about is: Making A Memorable MC I have a ton of great MC's. I have little Abbie from my WIP Another Imagination and I've got Ebinicah James from my paused WIP Ebinicah James and the Crystal Orb. I know Rehe only reason I've said two MC's is because I'm working on some secret books and I don't want to reveal who the main characters are just yet. Yet all of these main characters started out like normal ordinary people. They had something special that inspired us to write a book about THEM and THEIR journey.
Here are some questions I asked myself whenever I made a new MC:
After that step, I have one thing I must accomplish with my MC before I begin to write them: LEAVE. I put my character away for a few days, I don't think about the story (even though I end up thinking about it in the end), mention the character and I just go about my life. Then I go back to my MC to see if they're still fresh and new feeling (because I don't want a reader to be so into one of my books and then they, reluctantly, put down the book and come back to it later to just wanting to put it down again... Does that make sense?) There we go! My three handy-dandy steps I use to make a memorable character.
What I am about to say is my opinion and my opinion only. If other people agree with me, than they do. If they don't, they don't. It's as simple as that. I would love to talk to you if you have a similar, sort-of similar, or don't have a similar opinion with me about this certain topic. Thanks! I have a new story idea and I'm really happy about it. But, I have to say this first: I am tired of reading about a re-telling of a certain princess (Cinderella, Aurora, Belle, etc.). I'm just tired of them. Why can't people make stories about the supporting characters from each of the stories instead?! Let's take Disney's version of Beauty and the Beast for an example. Somewhere in the movie (I haven't seen it in such a long time...) there is a mural of the prince before he turned into the very-attractive/handsome beast. What's up with the dog? Who are those villagers? What happened to his parents? What's up with the day and night? Was there already a curse on the prince even before he turned into the Beast? See?!?!?!? Wouldn't that be such an amazing book, finding out the Beast's origins (gahh, does anyone know his real name? Adam... maybe Edward?)? Let's do Pinocchio. Who's the Blue Fairy from Pinocchio? Is she the Mother of Stars? Or is she somehow related to the fairy godmother's in Sleeping Beauty? Why is the Blue Fairy and not the White Fairy? Now off to Peter Pan. I feel as if this story would be a bit harder to do an origin story for, but has anybody thought to do a origin story for Captain Hook's silly friend, Mr. Smee? Did/does he have a mental illness? Why is he with Captain Hook when he's so nice? Okay, we've gotten those stories out of the way, why not look at a story that's more widely know. Cinderella. What happened to Lady Tremaine before she got married to Cinderella's father? Was she a super nice, really pretty young girl? Did she have any siblings? Was it because Cinderella reminded Lady Tremaine of her past self was the reason she was so mean to Cinderella? And the final story that I will be talking about, Aladdin. Who was Jasmine's mother? Was she royalty or a peasant (was the word peasant even in that timeline?)? Why did she marry the Sultan? Why is the Sultan so darn adorable?!
Me: Really? *begins getting upset* Why CINDERELLA?! She literally has enough stories to last A LIFE TIME.
And how come authors aren't focusing on the prince's perspective of a story? COME ON PEOPLE, I WANNA FIND OUT NAVEEN'S LIFE BEFORE HE MET HIS PARTNER/SPOUSE!!! (You know, from The Princess and the Frog?) Now since I've given you your inspiration, go write. *nicely shoo's everyone away to go start writing* Now don't forget, if you're not ready to leave yet, you can always chat in the comments and have a full, head-on conversation about this. Oh goodness, I haven't made a post here in a long time. Well, one of the reasons is that I haven't been writing. I was taking a bit of a break before I start editing Another Imagination. And that takes me too my 2016 writing goals.
And that's it! I know it should be waaaaay longer (in my opinion), but all of this is going to take a long time. Ebinicah James and the Crystal Orb is suppose to kind of be like Harry Potter, Percy Jackson and some other random awesome book all smashed into one book. I have a lot on my hands (yayyyaaayyyy....). Looking for the right agent is going to be difficult because I want to find the one. And I don't want to self-publish, that's also a reason. I was thinking about putting my book up on Amazon as an e-book and wait for someone to notice me there.... BUT there are so many authors already doing that and I don't want my book to stay there (just as an e-book, with no agent or publisher). Editing Another Imagination is going to be a tad bit more difficult than I had anticipated. The only reason being that some (maybe most) of my characters seem a bit flat, there needs to be more description of scenery, I need to slow down some conversations, maybe even add a few more conversations and realistically show an adult in an eight year old's POV (for those who don't know, POV stands for point of view). That may sound like normal editing to some people, but this is going to be my first time editing a book. Not a school paper. What are your 2016 Writing Goals? I'm going to try and be calm. Everyone... I won NaNoWriMo. I finished my book yesterday, Sunday, and I... I got it done. I'm not sure whether I should be screaming (I had my moments) or whether I should by forcing people to read my first draft (that's coming soon). My finished word count is 15,004 words. Can you believe it?
Now everywhere I go, I'm carrying the Go Teen Writers: How To Turn Your First Draft Into A Published Book. This book is literally my best friend, well other than Charisma (and another great friend of mine!) of course. Although, I'm kind of scared/pumped up for the editing stage. I just hope everyone likes my characters. Does anyone have any tips on the editing process or how they edit their books? And how long do you have to wait/celebrate before you start editing? Oh! And, since it's Thanksgiving break (techincally), I have the new Rick Riordian book awaiting to be read... You know, Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard: The Sword of Summer? Yeah, you know that book. And I am so excited to read it! :D People have asked if I was going to be posting snippets of my story here on the blog. While I am still thinking whether I should or not, I will be giving out what I like to call 'Photo Pharses' and I will be doing a character interview soon or later. Also, since I love you guys, I'm going to give you all some special news! As I was writing Another Imagination, Charisma gave me the idea to write a sequel to the book. So that's what I'm going to do! Another Imagination is going to, officially, be a duology! I'll be revealing the title of the second book somewhere in the near future (maybe in Janurary or February of 2016). Everyone, I am so very excited and this is my first book I've ever really finished. Have a happy Thanksgiving everyone! Hey guys! Sorry I haven't been posting a ton. Not only am I rushing to prepare myself for NaNoWriMo (which is only 23 days away), I'm trying to catch up on school (which I am kind of behind in... I still have an 'A' though!). What are YOU doing to prepare for NaNoWriMo? I've been thinking about this question a TON lately, and I realized--nothing. All I've done is make my 'book cover' (it's cool... But it could be WAY cooler), think up a book summary and name it. Then, I'm going to panster it all the way through (so much for being a planner... -_-). Would you like to know what my NaNoWriMo book is called and is about? I'm not going to leave you in the suspense this time. :D My book is called 'Another Imagination'. Abbie can see things others can't. A rare ability to some, a curse to others. Watching the beautiful creatures move around and about has people scared that she'll be influenced to do something she's not suppose to, but on the contrary the creatures that she sees want to be her friend, to be laughed with, to have someone love them. Do you like it? I can't wait to start writing! I'm going to have a character interview with Abbie some Thursday this month, so be on a look out! Are YOU participating in NaNoWriMo? Are you thinking about doing it this year? Do you have a book that you're about to start (even if you aren't doing NaNoWriMo)? By the way, I'm thinking about having a 'Book Cover Contest' for my book because I made a cover for myself, but I'm not sure if it really fits... If you like the idea, I'll consider putting the contest into action. Thank you so much everyone for what you do! (c) All rights reserved. I am the Smol Scribble. I came to realize that, even though the first drafts of books aren't perfect, they are the closest to my heart...
