Camp NaNoWriMo - July

Hello Twisters!

For those returning, welcome back! And for those who are new to the Smol Scribble, welcome! I hope you’ll stay a while.

It’s been a long time, but I have returned with some great news! Camp NaNoWriMo’s July session has begun and it’s already the main thing on my mind (though I’m saving a small space for my summer class). Since Camp NaNo is currently in session, I have the opportunity to write and to blog! I’m super excited to share the story that I get the chance to work on and I’m really happy that I have the opportunity to get back into the groove of things in regards to blogging.

Here we go!

The Story - The King and Queen of Excalibur

This summer, I have the blessed opportunity to work with kids at my local Art Center and this past week, the kids worked on creating a game (which can easily become a board game) and the younger kids had the coolest story for their game. The theme for the week was Monster Hunters, so imagine my surprise when the younger kids created two celestial beings that could shape-shift into any creature and that had no specified gender. Immediately I knew that I had to write the story of the King and the Queen.

The King and the Queen used to live in harmony together but something happened (the kids didn’t say) where the King turned evil and was banished (?) to the Underworld, while the Queen resides in Mount Everest. In order to bring the King and Queen back to harmony, a strong spirited soul must find the four orbs and unite them together to create harmony.

Really cool plot and I decided to run with it. Marathon style. I have gathered that this book will be a minimum of 30,000 words (I’m currently still outlining and there is already a long beginning, a long middle, and now there is a middle part 2) and I’m under a very strict deadline. While working with the kids, there was a teacher who was completely invested into the creation of the story and plot. She wanted to see this story thrive and the game incredibly entertaining, so I decided to dedicate this story to her! With that being said, my deadline is the 19th of July. I have some family things going on towards the end of the month and I knew that that would be the only time I had to give the full story to her (as I promised the full story).

Regardless of my deadline, I am incredibly excited to write this story! So far, the outline has come to me like a breeze (which is a really rare occurrence) and I am so ready to write. I hope to be able to write a post once every week this month, as I am planning on doing character introductions for the King and Queen and some of the side characters, and, if I’m really lucky, I can tell you about the other stories that I have to finish writing this month too!

Thank you, my friends, for staying on this journey with me.

Until Next Time... Adieu

I am the Smol Scribble. I came to realize that, even though the first drafts of books aren't perfect, they are the closest to my heart...

Especially when they're full of scribbled notes.

Here I will be posting my journey as a young, budding Scribble and I hope that you will be inspired to become a Scribbler too!
