What on EARTH do you call it when you don't have the mojo to write on your blog? Is it blogger's block? Since you're a blogger and it is preventing you from blogging? Or is it writer's block? Since you're technically a writer writing the post? By this point, I'm really confused, but this is my topic for today! I have Blogger's/Writer's Block! *sarcastic yays!* I honestly have no idea what to write/blog because nothing really has been happening?? I've been accepted for a job (yay!), but I haven't started working, so I can't really talk about that. I was going to talk about YouTubers I watch, but I want to research all the ones I want to feature and such. I've been just drawing a lot lately, WHICH I LOVE! I need to be drawing more digitally, but I'll take what I've got! Traditional drawing has been really fun lately. I've been pushing towards adding more colors to my traditional pictures so that I can understand what I'm more attracted to, how I color, etc. So that's been good. I suppose this has just been another life update. Bianca and I have so many amazing things we're working on and planning, but right now, those ideas are just taking shape! Once we get rolling and feeling the flow more, we'll let you know all the exciting things that will be coming! You Twisters are not PREPARED for what we have in store! But that's all for now! Sorry that this wasn't really anything, but thanks for reading! Catch ya later, Twisters! Charisma

Happy New Years Twisters! Sorry that we haven't been super active. Bianca and I are planning on graduating early (graduating in our Junior year!), which means a heck ton of extra school work. Trying to get those extra credits to graduate are super tough and the load work is crazy, but we'll get through it! I'll just take a lot of planning and prioritizing. Especially to include blogging again. And with that, I'm here to share with you my new year resolutions! New Years Resolutions
Anyways, that's all I have for my resolutions! There are probably more, but I can't remember them right now. Thank you so much for making 2018 a great year! Here's to an even better year! See you in 2019 Twisters! No Twisters. We did not get a guest blogger (even though we do need one of those sometime).
I was going through my long, long, LONG list of bookmarks when I stumbled upon Koichi's blog post. (Okay Twisters. We're going to spiral out for a minute. But I don't think you all realize what I mean by "long". I could literally make a YouTube series of me going through my bookmarks and it be more than 5 videos because that's how many bookmarks I have. It would be a good time. Me and Bianca, just chattin' away at how bad I am with bookmarking things... Anyways! Back to the post.) Koichi's post was titled "Why You Didn't Get the Job". I had read this previously, but now that I actually have a job and such, I wanted to see how much it would help me when I change to a different job. And boy. Is that advice in there valuable. First, go ahead and take a minute to read it. Here, I'll give you the link again: "Why You Didn't Get the Job" I'll sit here and wait until you've read it. *Leans back in a rocking chair and opens up a manga* Take your time, I'll be here. Don't worry. *Slowly flips the pages* Doo do do dooo... *Looks up* Oh! You're finished already? Okay then! We'll start off! So, if you had read the post, then you know that Koichi was talking specifically about the Tofugu Internships that were going on. But in all honesty, all of what he said applies to any job. ANY of them. There are a few more things that could be added to his list, but what he's covered is pretty spot on. I'm going to touch on a few that I believe are the most important from his list and that need to be reiterated. Don't Compete. And like what he said, "Stand out and don't do something people have already done. Do something original." Now, if that were me reading it, I would be stumped and confused. How and where was I supposed to go and find something "original" to do? Well, we're going to use the Tofugu Internship as an example. In short, Tofugu specializes in giving accurate/detailed insights on Japan, its culture and its language. So, what's something original that you could do? Well, if you live in America, then you could participate in the National Association of Japan-America Societies where, if you're chosen, you can become an ambassador representing America in Japan. That's a pretty hefty thing to go up against if you had that on your application. Not only would those at Tofugu see that you've been to Japan, but they would see that you went to Japan as an ambassador. Now, if that's too daunting of a task (like it would be for me, haha), then go and do things where you would be exposed to Japanese related things. You could help out at a Japanese-speaking school (they do exist, you just have to look, Bianca and I had a hard time locating them), help a Japanese teacher, be a Japanese tutor, something! But you HAVE TO put yourself out there. You have to leave your comfort zone and try something new. Trust me, it pays out in the long run. It's difficult and hard a lot of the time, but the experience and knowledge that you'll gain is tremendous. So every second is worth it. You Didn't Know the Company. Okay. If you're applying for a job, the people want to see that you've actually gone out of your way to see what they are all about. And it would greatly benefit you to know what they do, when they started, their views and opinions, etc. Sure the opinions part will change with the people working there, but if you know what the company stands for, then you can back that up. The last one we're going to touch on is You Didn't Put Effort in the Project. People. We are here to impress. In order to impress, you have to put your complete effort plus another half. If you really want that job, you'll work for it! Especially if it's your dream job. If this is a job that you really, really want, then work your butt off for it! What do you think your going to be doing in your actual job anyways? Just lazing around? No! You're going to be working your butt off, but doing something that you love. Like I said, if you want it, put effort into it. Now, I completely understand if it gets tough.. My mom is in college taking courses to be a doctor! Learning all this science and math is crazy difficult. There are times when she wants to give up. I know this because she's told me. There are also times when she's cried. I also know this because she's told me. But you know what? She hasn't stopped. No, she's kept on going and hustling through because she knows this is what she needs to be doing, no matter what it takes. So she's putting her all. Every. Single. Bit. She's putting that in. MOST IMPORTANTLY! Even though this wasn't on Koichi's list, it's still important. Don't take rejection like it's the end of the world. Sure, you might not have gotten into your dream job. Sure, you might have worked your all for that job. But what's most important is that you got that experience. Oo, that didn't sound as epic as I had wanted it to. Let me rephrase. When you worked your all, when you went out of your comfort zone and did new things, all that adds up to experience that you can now put on you "Achievements" list. Not only have you gone and developed yourself to be so much more awesome than you already were, but you now have that experience to go and try out for a different, maybe even better job! Keep going! Paradise is always in reach. Anyways, that's all I got for you today! Catch ya later Twisters! HAHAAAA!!
WHO HAS ONE OF THESE?? *looks at everyone else who's got 1) a school schedule, 2) their life figured out, etc.* O-oh... well, then. Um. WHATEVER. But no seriously. Having a school schedule is important. VERY important. Even at this very second that I'm writing this, I have a pile of school that I need to accomplish because I procrastinated it. And this is all because I didn't have a schedule. I still don't have a schedule! Gladly, though, I'm going to start using my planner ('cause I buy them every year) and make a list and FOLLOW IT. No matter how distracted I get (I get SUPER distracted Twister's, it's not even funny), I'm going to get when I have on that list completed and finished by the end of that day. Not gonna lie, this is a lot for me to handle. Some how, my mind doesn't like having anything to do. Even if it's something that I want to do, I get distracted. I procrastinate. And. I. Don't. Know. Why. It's frustrating, knowing that even if I try really hard to focus, 50% or more of my mind will want to wander out to go look at Instagram or something. I want to study. I want to be committed. I WANT to be that person everyone turns to if they need something. And that's not going to happen if I'm like this. Anyways, it's just really annoying and I'm sick of being like this. So, yeah! I'm going to start working out a school schedule and figure out my life right now. I'm not going to stop posting, oh no! I'm just going to be doing stuff in real life that'll, hopefully, change my life in the right way. The way that's best for me. The long anticipated schedule for this blog! (I was waiting for this for a LOOONG time, and I'm so happy to be finally able to finalize something that'll actually work!)
And there ya have it Twister's!!! Our finalized schedule!! Super excited to implement it! We'll begin to follow this on the week of February 5th. Post-wise, we are going to be uploading all the posts on their respective days at 6:00 AM CST. Also, I have said previously, our blog is still kind of under construction. We're finalizing our pictures and rewriting things that desperately need to be rewritten. We'll probably do a blog post where we've finally say "IT'S ALL DONE!!" and celebrate with virtual cake or something, I don't know. Somethin' will happen. Additionally!! (There's so much that I want to say, I'm so sorry!) Bianca and I might still post from outside of our schedule if we deem necessary. Bianca has told me that she's got a post coming up that she wants to put out before our schedule commences, so that's probably going to happen. So be on the look out for that. Alrighty, Twisters, there ya have it!! Our official blog schedule! See you soon on the beginning of a grand adventure!
Happy New Years, Twisters! It's a new year and that means new goals and a whole lot of new opportunities~ This past year, I regret doing so little regarding everything I did. School, I could have put a whole lot more effort into that, my Japanese class, I could have had a higher grade than my 96%, and I could have used my Bujo a lot more. Also, I regret not posting on the blog when I had the chance. I spent so much of my free time on YouTube or on Instagram that I didn't even have the decency to say, "Just A Quick Update!". That is why, this year, I'm going to change a WHOLE lot in my life. My Goals:
And those are my resolutions! I'm so ready for this year. I feel as though it's going to be a great year and I really think that my goals are actually achievable. What are your goals for 2018? Tell us in the comments below! I know, I know. This is strange! Why would I be writing about this? Well, in my Leadership class, I (again) have the wonderful opportunity to write something that would persuade another. And this is what I've chose to discuss. Why the particular subject of da video games? Well, I believe that there is a lot of hate and negativity on playing video games going around and I would like the ability to voice my thoughts and opinions on this subject. I was talking to a friend of mine and he said that he had "no life" because he played a lot of video games. And I thought about this. When I think of somebody that has no life, I think of someone who is a couch potato and watches shows and eats all day long. But he told me that his "no life" was spent by playing video games. Playing video games = "no life"? Sir, I think not. Why would immersing yourself in another world that our universe doesn't contain "not a life"?! How does learning important skills (some of which we will cover later on in this post) that can be taught in the comfort of you home "not a life"?!?! How is experiencing a life beyond your own, one that has different emotions, one that possibly bonds with creatures or plants, and watching them develop as a being "NOT A LIFE"?!?!?! *clears throat* And now, my fellow Twisters, here are the few reasons why you should play video games: |
In the world of video games, there are moments when it's going to get tough. And in those moments, you can't just look down at your controller and spam whatever buttons because you're confused (though this will happen many, many times; this has happened to me waaaaaay too much). So, as you continue to play video games, your hand-eye coordination becomes better. You've memorized what button is where, what each of those buttons do, and when a difficult situation arises, you will have everything down. | Another thing that is very evident in the world of video games are the puzzles. There are a lot of puzzles. Too many, in all honesty. One of the key features of the Legend of Zelda is the puzzles contained inside. And trust me, they do get tough (just try beating Hero Mode). In these types of situations, you'll need to think and use your knowledge that you've gained from the game and just basic logic (both will soon grow) to solve them. Puzzle-solving is also very wonderful if you ever want to tackle an escape room. These are known for being very tricky and you need to think outside of the box to solve them (just like in Fetch!). |
*throws hands up into the air pointing at the skills* See! Important skills!
A Visual Story
Have you ever read a book and bonded so much with the characters you felt as if you were travelling alongside them? Have you ever wanted to see what was actually happening and what the places actually looked like? Playing a video game lets you see all those things.
A video game is a book and a movie combined. It's a playable movie; it's a visual story. You still get very attached to the characters. You still get to cry with them. You still get to laugh with them. You still can experience heartbreak and sadness with them. But you can also see (in clear high definition, hopefully) what it was like for them. How it all, those emotions, those experiences, their position in life, came to be.
You're definitely not getting cheated out of an experience. Not at all.
You're getting an enhanced version of one.
Have you played video games before? If so, which one is your favorite? If you haven't, do you want to? Tell us in the comments!!
How are you all? Sorry we haven't been updating the blog. I could give you some lovely excuses about how we're busy - which is true - and how we don't have the time, but we do have the time. We procrastinate, so yeah. We got time. It's just not in the front of our minds. Hopefully from now on, though, when we want to procrastinate and be distracted, we'll try and update the blog! (And trust us... we get distracted a LOT!)
Buuuuuuuut! Yesterday, Bianca and I was interviewed for our first job! We applied to the Chick-fil-A where we live, because our older sisters worked there (one is still working, the other has moved on), and we know some of the people there, so we thought it would be the best option. (We also need money for our next semester for Japanese, which is a hefty amount of money!)
We rode our bikes there, because our mother and oldest sister had taken their cars, and that was... a journey. I'm a casual biker and we needed to get there in about 10 - 15 minutes, so I was just struggling. Not too terrible, but a passerby could probably see my struggle.
Once we got there, we freshened up in the bathroom, and had the most chill interview I've ever had. It was amazing! We were interviewed by a friend and he was really just asking us questions about us and how we thought we would fit into the job. It was very nice. :)
After that, we biked ourselves back home (our older sister biked with us there, but she started work at 3 and our interview was at 2, so she just decided to bike with us, which was SUPER nice of her!) and kind just pooped ourselves back into this world. Hehe.... Yeah. After that, I ate, then slept.
I was tired.
But all in all, it was amazing! Great way to start off our first job interview!
Have any of you been interviewed? If so, what's the story? Did you like it? Tell us in the comments!
Guess who's back! It's us! Or, me rather. I apologize for not writing for such a long time. I've been consumed with school, writing (preparing for Camp NaNoWriMo!), and I'm an assistant at a Summer Art Camp which runs for eight (8) consecutive weeks, five days a week, from nine (9 am) in the morning to twelve (12 pm) in the afternoon.
*sigh*
I've been busy.
Okay, let's go down the list and explain:
- SCHOOL - Charisma and I have been doing summer school (Human Geography and Personal Finance) so that we can graduate from High School early. The class is super laid back and it's a go-at-your-own-pace deal, which is super nice. I'm hoping to finish Human Geography this week.
- WRITING - I just finished a short story (I'll elaborate over at My Writing Journey) and it took a LOT of energy from me. Even though it was only 5,000 words (which seems little to be, but apparently the number of pages makes it seem very long to other people), it's a very complex and descriptive story. Also, I'm trying to write a 10,000-word short story in July for Camp NaNoWriMo and I haven't finished planning that yet... so I'm freaking out just a tad.
- SUMMER ART CAMPS - Like I stated before, it's five days a week, from morning till noon, and it's for eight consecutive weeks. I'm an assistant to the teachers and I'm usually with the 1st - 2nd graders (occasionally, I get the 3rd - 5th, but I don't get them as often as Charisma). Each week there is a theme so that way the classes are all directed in a specific manner and not random 'LET'S DRAW WHATEVER WE WANT' mayhem.
- The morning is divided into three things: Class -- Snack -- Class. With the 1st - 2nd graders, I go upstairs to do Visual Arts (drawing, painting, sculpting, etc.) for about an hour and fifty minutes and then we go down to the basement (?? I really have no idea what it is. It's not really a basement, but like, it sort of functions as one and a lower level. It's hard to explain...) and have a twenty minute snack time, then we go to Performing Arts which is in this room called the Black Box (it's literally a black room) and we have that for an hour and fifty minutes. After we finish we PA, we head upstairs to the main lobby and wait for the kids to be picked up by their parents. VOILA. That is a full day.
Welcome (I guess) to my busy, busy summer!
I missed blogging.
Oh, yeah! Before I forget, Charisma and I have Instagram accounts... So, check them out!
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints has created an Advent Calendar for the Christmas Season. They created this calendar so that, leading up to Christmas Day, people could do acts of service of do some of the things that Christ did.
I discovered this Advent Calendar this past Sunday, as my bishop introduced it to all those that were in the congregation. I was very excited to start participating, because I love the thought of serving.
Service was always something that I really enjoyed. I found it very fun and I could do it with the people that I loved. So when this opportunity came, I new exactly what my first act of service was going to be:
Share it with all of you!
Light the World
|
I was so inspired by this video, it almost made me cry. (I didn't want to cry in my seminary class... so I tried to hold back the tears. ;3) When I saw this video, I wanted to do everything in my power to serve those around me, but I knew that I couldn't serve everyone in the entire world (because that was my inital feeling).
Writing this blog post on this was the least I could do, and I really wanted you all to 1) take part in this lovely act of daily service and 2) know that Bianca and I were still alive.
#LIGHTtheWORLD Advent Calendar
And what's so amazing about the acts of service is that technology can be used to help spread the word! If you want to be a part of this wonderful service opportunity, go start serving! But, if you want to let your friends know, use the hashtag #LIGHTtheWORLD. :3
I hope you take this chance to serve those around you and be as Christ was: a light to the world.
Matthew 5:14 - 16
14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.
16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
Let's start the Christmas season with a whole lot of service, joy, happiness and love!
