LoveLive! School Idol Festival

Hey everyone and welcome back to Game Reviews!

If you're new here, then my twin sister, Charisma, and I review games that we've either played in the past, games that we are currently playing, and games that are new-and-upcoming games that we're interested in.

Before we get started, I would like to state that all of the images are ones that I've personally have taken during the game.  Please be respectful of the images and do not use them as your own.  Thank you!

Today's game is the LoveLive! School Idol Festival from the Google Play store.  Before playing this game, I've watched some of the Love Live! anime, which was absolutely amazing.  From the singing to the real-life situations, it was a show that I could get into and enjoy.  Unfortunately, I was only able to watch a couple of episodes, so I don't know a lot about the show.
I knew about this app before I installed it, but I didn't have a phone then.  Now that I finally got a phone I immediately downloaded it and... I waited.

Yes, oh yes.  This game takes up a LOT of MB.  This game takes up 789MB and that's with all its updates.  With a good Wi-Fi signal, the whole download should only take about 5 - 10 minutes, so it wasn't a very long wait, but I wasn't expecting to wait for this particular game.  Before the large download session, there is an option of 'LIGHT' and 'STANDARD'.  The 'LIGHT' option is where you play the game and only update the game to progress and there was the 'STANDARD' option where you could download the whole game and the only thing that you had to download was the 'BUG FIX' updates/new features.  Since I wanted the full game, I chose 'STANDARD', so I'm not sure how 'LIGHT' works.  Also, regarding Wi-Fi, this game only works with Wi-Fi.  I've tried multiple attempts to play the game without it, but it is strictly a 'Wi-Fi Only' game.

  Now, off to Gameplay!

I, personally, think that you have a lot of freedom in this game.  Once you finish the tutorial (which I neglected to take screenshots of) the game is really simple.  To put it simply, as someone could easily make a basic explanation complicated, depending on the type of circle you type and/or press.  If anyone's played a Hatsune Miku Project Diva or Project Mirai DX, then it's very close to gameplay in that sense, except on a mobile device.

The game starts you off with the setting of 'Easy' and, as I've never really played a game like this before, I was having a tough time.  I got the controls of the game rather quickly, but I wasn't prepared when I decided to switch the mode to 'Normal'.  It was at the same beat as the previous mode, yes, but there were a lot more circles to touch and they were just flying all over the screen.  I would highly advise starting with 'Easy' to memorize the songs a bit and then slowly working yourself to a higher mode setting.

On the lower part of the image above, you see 'Home', 'Story, 'Members', 'Live Shows', 'Scout', 'Shop', and 'Other'.

There are definitely a lot of places to remember in this game, so let me dive deeper into each:
  • HOME - This is where you can access your Goals, Presents, Mailbox, What's New, Events, and Friends List/Requests.  Also, to the left of the screen, you can see your Idol Partners (you can have more than one).
  • STORY - Depending on if you are on the Aqours or μ's setting (which you can change in the upper left-hand corner), you can access different stories.  The Aquors is a new group (from the anime LoveLive! Sunshine) and μ's is the first LoveLive! group.
Picture
  • MEMBERS - This is where you can practice with your members so that they can grow their skills and it's also where you can see all the members of your team (and overall) as well as idolize members.
  • LIVE SHOWS - This is where you get to chose the song you want to perform, the difficulty of the song, and pick the team (as you can have more than one team).
Picture
Picture
  • SCOUT - This is where you find new members for your team!  You can get either μ's or Aqours or new members during a scouting mission.  Scouting missions usually take a scouting ticket or something else (I'm not exactly sure what it is at the moment).
  • SHOP - This is where you can purchase (with your Love Gems) more Life Points (LP), where can purchase Love Gems as well as Increase Member Limit.
  • OTHER - To sum it up, it's pretty much just Settings.  Only to list a few, you have access to ranking, your profile, some wallpapers, hints, albums, etc.

And that's the overall game!  Since the game is super intense, I was unable to take a few screenshots of the actual game.  Once more, I took all these images myself using the screenshot feature on my cell phone.

If you want to get this game yourself, I would highly recommend it!  Overall, I would give it 4
½ stars!  Also, if there are any games that you would like to see me play, please suggest them in the comments!

Neko Atsume

I couldn't find a trailer for Neko Atsume, all I could do was take some pictures.  Hope you enjoy!
Rating: E

System: iPod, iPad, iPhone or any type of mobile-devices
No. of Players: 1
                       Single Slot

Category: Casual
My mother found this game at the app and when she showed me and Charisma the game we said, 'Oh my goodness!  It's Neko Atsume!'.  The whole game is about how you attract kitties by feeding them and giving them toys to play with and then they give you sardines (and sometimes gold sardines) so you can purchase more food and toys for the kitties.

It's kind of like the Circle of Life.  But for Kitties.

The game comes in two languages: Japanese and English.  If you're practicing Japanese, then you can switch the language and ta-da!  It's done.  Also, there is an option, if you have a mobile device that doesn't have a lot of storage, where you can make the graphics suitable for your device.  Some other reasons why this is a good game:
  • You have to leave the app in order for kitties to come, so you can do other things instead of just staying on the app.
  • It lists all the kitties you've met so far in a thing called a 'Catbook', which is quite adorable.
  • There is a shop where you can buy the toys and treats for the cats.
  • There is a wide variety of kitties, so when a new one appears, it's quite enjoyable!

There are many other things that make it quite an enjoyable game, but there was one thing that I didn't like about the app.  When you click on the 'Menu' button (which is conveniently put in the upper right-hand corner), there would be an occasional little kitty sitting on the menu screen (it's small) and it would say, '(Fill in a kitties name) has a brochure for you!'.  But when you click on it, it's like an actual ad (and the exit button is extremely small).  Yet, I think that's the only thing I didn't like about it.  Although, you can easily ignore the ad, so it's not a big deal.

All in all, I rate this game a four stars.

Style Savvy: Trendsetters

System: Nintendo 3DS

No. of Players: 1 Player

Multiplayer (local connection): Up to 4 Players
                                            Game necessary to do so
Category: Simulation

                        Fashion-Styling

This is an amazing game.  Seriously.  I honestly was not expecting this game to be as awesome as it turned out to be.  I saw the trailer, fell in love with it and then asked myself, "Do I really expect it to be as great as the trailer?  I know for a fact that it won't have the same amazing digital/CGI quality it had in the trailer."  Because of that thought I put my expectations level really high and expected this game to be really low.

Okay, and recap time: Bianca bought it from Amazon because she thought it was better than the first Style Savvy game (which is just called Style Savvy).  She was considering the first Style Savvy game because it had the option to get a boyfriend, but Style Savvy: Trendsetters beat that consideration because of these reasons:

1. Better Graphics

2. Option to Create Men's Outfits

3. More Clothing Options

4. More Freedom with Your Character

5. More Organized

And probably some more stuff, too.  Anyways, I was super excited when the package came in the mail and I constantly watched from over her shoulder on how the story would play out and how you did everything in the game.

Though the concept is simple, it gets increasingly harder throughout the game.  There are those crazy people who say "Oh! just give me an outfit under my budget that matches my style" and your supposed to guess what their style is and sometimes it just completely stands out.  WHILE OTHER TIMES YOU HAVE TO GIVE THEM 3 OUTFITS TO LOOK AT AND NONE OF THEM MATCH THEIR STYLE.  What in the world, right?

Anyways, the idea of this game is ingenious.  You go from a beginner who just moves into town and starts to work at your favorite store, then you just slowly sky rocket from there.  :)  It is actually a very satisfying experience as you play through the game.

Style Savvy: Trendsetters is a wonderful game to play through and actually makes you think on what styles are cute together and what quite aren't.  It let's you think about money and what to buy when shopping for your shop.  It's a really cool game.

Bianca and I rate this game a 4 stars!

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

Suggestive Themes                                                        Category: Action, Adventure, Role-Playing

System: Nintendo 3DS

Trailer Info:  The font in the IGN Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time trailer is like a version of the Old English Text, so it might be hard to see the words.  But there are no bad words in the trailer.

Bianca and I are very fond of good action and adventure games.  They're just one of the best games out there.  And this one, this one has been talked about for years now!  Starting out in the early days of Nintendo, the Legend of Zelda series has been loved by many.  And this remastered version is a beautiful edition to the series.

I've played this game on multiple occasions and have loved it.  This game makes you think, lets you tackle all the baddies you want, and when your done with the main version, you can test your skills with the Master/Hero version.  It flips the whole game around and gives every dungeon a harder and tougher system to beat.  But it's great for gamers!

This game is casual here and intense there.  You can die at any time in the game, so keep your inventory happily tidy of items that you will need.  There are some moments in the game where you are thinking where's the action, while others... other moments make you think that you'll never stop giving Link those dreaded Game Over's.  -_-  We've been there.  If your that awesome person who thinks restarting a boss fight is a chance to understand their tactics, good for you!

Anyways, this game is very unique from all the other games I've played, and I've played quite a variety.

All in all, we would rate this game a 4 and a half stars.

    Game Reviews

Bianca and Charisma review games as well as give news on new-and-upcoming games!

    Here is the review rating:

5 Stars - Absolutely incredible game!  The graphics were beautiful, the plot was superb, the character development was outstanding and overall, the best game ever played.

4 Stars - This game was pretty great.  The graphics were very nice, the plot was good, and the characters/their development could've been better, but it was pretty great anyways.

3 Stars - This game was good, but characters and plot were lacking in specific areas.  There was lots of potential though!

2 Stars - This game was pretty bad.  There was nothing that really stood out to us and it just didn't really capture our attention.  There were some parts that had potential if they were executed differently, but overall, not a very good game.

1 Stars - This game was a HUGE let down.  There was *no* supporting factor that held this game up and the characters and plot were beyond terrible.

Game suggestions are welcome!  Please note that we will not play ANY rated M games and some T games.
