Hey there everybody! As you can see on my Writing Progress, my New Book (which has a name, I just haven't revealed it yet) has 20, 470 words. I am so proud that I've written that many words! My personal due date for finishing the book is November 7th. I know that cuts into NaNoWriMo time, but since I've committed to finishing my book AND starting a new book for NaNoWriMo, I'm gonna do it. Honestly, I can't wait. I'm trying to prepare two books so I can pick which book I want to do for NaNoWriMo but I haven't completely finished the preparations. I hope I can become a winner this year. Although this is my second year doing YWP NaNoWriMo, I know that my older sister did Camp NaNoWriMo for one year and I think she did NaNoWriMo and she had lots of fun doing it. She's one of the reasons why I'm writing. :D The hard part for me is deciding whether I'm a planner or a panster.
Source: NaNoWriMo Prep Last year, I was a total Panster. I had NO idea what I was doing, only that I was writing a story that I barely knew anything about (which was Ebinicah James and the Crystal Orb. Don't get me wrong. It is still a fantastic book. It just needs to be seen with a new eye). It was fun being a Panster though (*grins*). But this year, I am going to TRY and be a planner and see whether being a Planner or a Panster is easier for me.
Guys, I am SO excited to start NaNoWriMo! Are you doing NaNoWriMo this year? YWP NaNoWriMo (they're getting a new website this year!)? Have you done NaNoWriMo in past years? If so, do you have any writer-to-writer advice you would like to give? Have a fantastic day!

Hey everybody! Today, I'm going to be talking about how I write books. You know how some people outline their stories? Yeah, this may sound crazy, but I don't do that. I'm not sure why, but I feel it to be unnecessary. I actually just start writing my story on a Microsoft document. When I first start writing, I close my eyes for at least 2 minutes and picture everything in my head like a movie. Only, I can see it more in my head then I can when writing it (thank Cybertron that there is a writing stage called editing!). After I finish watching the opening act of my story in my head, I go and write it. Yet, I must admit, I am terrible at G.U.M. (grammar, usage and mechanics) which is an essential part to writing. I know! How can I be good at writing if I'm terrible at G.U.M.? Let us save that question for another time... Anyway, after I start writing, I get to at least chapter 3 and I'm not sure what to write! I have to Pixlrize pictures and then look at quotes for weeks before I can actually think of what next to write. And in that very moment, I wished I outlined.
Well, that's it for today! Part 2 will be coming soon! As you all know, I love soundtracks. And I decided that I needed a Transformers soundtrack. Transformers - Age of Extinction is slowly breaking my heart and replacing it with new feelings. Currently those feelings are compassion and a new love for Transformers. Here's the soundtrack: I've watched the movie Ender's Game (which wasn't scary at all...) and I have deeply fallen in love with its soundtrack. I have the same feelings as I do for Transformers (if all Transformers soundtracks are like Age of Extinction then please let me have them all). And, for me, they both sound similar. So here is the Ender's Game soundtrack: Listen to them both and tell me which one is your favorite. I never knew music could change your life till I heard the Music for Writing I - The Phantom Music.
The Ender's Game Soundtrack and the Transformers: Age of Extinction Soundtrack wouldn't have been possible without the Magnificent Steve Jablonsky. His works are stunning and amazing. Tell me in the comments what your favorite instrumental song is! You heard it right! Jill Williamson's 'By Darkness Hid', the first book in the Blood of Kings Trilogy, is free on eBook! By Darkness Hid - Amazon Cool right? I'll give you a fact about it. It's her oldest published book and it's been out ever since 2009. I would love to see this book be at the top of the bestseller list. Here's the summary. Given the chance to train as a squire, kitchen servant Achan Cham hopes to pull himself out of his pitiful life and become a Kingsguard Knight. When Achan's owner learns of his training, he forces Achan to spar with the Crown Prince--more of a death sentence than an honor. Meanwhile, strange voices in Achan's head cause him to fear he's going mad. While escorting the prince to a council presentation, their convoy is attacked. Achan is wounded and arrested, but escapes from prison--only to discover a secret about himself he never believed possible. I've read that summary at least five times and I still get an amazing fuzzy feeling (it's the kind when something incredible happened in a movie).
Would you like to help get it to the top? Click on the picture (or the 'By Darkness Hid - Amazon' above the picture) and it'll go straight to Amazon. And buy it! WELL, your not really buying it, your just getting it. So go get it! Have fun and help her get to the top! First off, I want to thank the AMAZING C.B. Cook from The World of the Writer for doing this contest. Today, I'm doing the 'Character Creation Contest' made by The World of the Writer. Let's just say that when I saw this I totally did not freak out and start screaming inside my head. Okay, anyway, the rules were to create a character from the three pictures she had on her blog and that the characters would be judged off of creativity, how intriguing the character is and how well developed the characters are. I think I was more confident in my head... -_- I can do this, so let's see. Here is my character! Isn't she so pretty? Name: Myliana Location: Merilis She is a princess over Merilis, an underwater trade kingdom. Having been born with no mermaid tail, she spends her time in the human world as a messenger for Merilis, perfectly blending in. The humans know of the world Merilis, yet they keep a distant from the underwater kingdom for it is known for its high tech security. (Possible Book) Short Story: "Myliana, as princess of Merilis and messenger to the human world, we give you this amulet to portray our thanks and blessings upon you." I knelt down before my father's fin and accepted the turquoise amulet. My mother and older brother created this small ceremony for me while I was still on the human's world trading seawater pearl dishes. Everyone in my family had a fin and because I didn't, I was able to better communicate with the upper world. I stood up and smiled, "Thank you father." I received a tight hug from the back which, at first, startled me. I laughed and said, "Thanks Merari." "You're welcome," my brother said grinning. He swam in front of me, his short brown hair drifted slowly in the water, his dark blue eyes gleamed and his white tail shimmered as he moved. "What do you plan on wearing for the banquet?" "What banquet?" I asked confused. "Your sixteenth birthday banquet. You only turn sixteen once," he replied as father swam away to mother. "How could you forget?" "Well, I've been in the human's world for quite some time and the things of Merilis keep slipping out of my mind." "So does that mean you want me to pick out your outfit?" he asked. I laughed, "I guess it does." Cheering, Merari left the throne room while I approached my parents. My father quickly glanced up at me and then kept whispering to my mother. Unfortunately, she did the same and that got me worried. After a few minutes, they stopped talking and they both looked at me. "Myliana, at 7:00 this evening, you will be turning sixteen," my mother said. I nodded, "And when I turn sixteen I can start making my own decisions. And that means I can freely go to the human world," I boldly stated. Even though I was the Merilis messenger, I had to go under strict rules to 'ensure my safety'. "Yes it does, but it also means more responsibilities to Merilis," my father replied. "We understand that you have grown a connection with the human world, but going there for six years doesn't change the fact the you have obligations here," my mother said. "It does when you've met someone," I muttered under my breath. "Tell us, what do you see in the lake when you are about to enter the water world?" My father asked. "Well," I began, thinking about what I see when I'm in the human world. "The lake... It looks a bit brown and it's muddy around the edges of the lake. Why do you ask?" My parents glanced at each other and looked back to me. "The humans pollute their waters, knowing that pollution is the one thing we can not defeat," my father said. "If the waters are polluted, then Merilis will have to travel millions of miles from the surface world, and if we can not trade..." my mother stopped. "And if we can't trade then Merilis will be nothing," I gasped as I finished her sentence. So that's it everybody. Hope you enjoyed! Please comment and tell me if this character surprises you. :3 Thanks! (c) All rights reserved. Please do not reproduce, plagarize, or dulicate any work on this site. Writing and Drawing... They may be two different things, but they're exactly the same one thing. I know that doesn't even make any sense, but I know a way to make it easier to understand. When you are writing a story. You get so attached to your characters, to your world, to your everything actually, that when you pause a book or finish a book (in my case it's pause) those characters from your story will nudge at your head and won't stop till you write with them again. Drawing is the same thing. When you're drawing, you become so attached to your drawings that it's hard when you have to give them away. They look so perfect and beautiful that it just breaks your heart to see them go. Can you tell how writing and drawing are similar now? I just finished drawing a lion and it looks spectacular. I mean, beyond spectacular. It's really beautiful. But, my older sister says that it's so great that she wants to me to give it to a friend. Yet... I don't know if I can gather up the courage and give it away. Oh well. There are two pictures below. To the left is the picture that inspired me to draw a duplicate and to the right is the picture I am drawing next. :3 Wish me luck guys! (BTW, I think Inspired Art has something new... Go check it out!) I've got a lot of explaining to do. Since I've been really busy, I've decided that I have to move the Nex Gen Justice League to ever 2 weeks. So in March, I'll do it the second and forth week.
The reason that I didn't post anything last week and a few days this week was because I didn't have anything to post about and because I had allergies (which AREN'T fun... at all). I was able to one word war (and I was able to get 173 words in ten minutes... Go me!) and that's about it. Other than that, on Saturday (two days ago) I was watching Star Wars: The Clone Wars with my sisters and my dad came in with a package. He handed me the package and said, "It's for you." Then, I immediately screamed. It was the package. The package I had been waiting for. I had won Jill Williamson's book contest on her blog and I got the book, 'Go Teen Writers'. I started reading it and I just LOVE it. Hmm... And that's it! I'll be posting tomorrow and that's a promise! Hello world! Sorry that I didn't post on Saturday, but I've got something to say. At the end of each of my posts, there is a blue 'Bianca' sign. And it hasn't been popping up when you read my posts. BUT when you click the title and comment on the posts. THEN you can see the blue 'Bianca' sign. It's still there. (I just covered 'And Some Explanations' part of the post.) Now off to the 'Go Teen Writers Word War' part. As you all know, I love Go Teen Writers, I adore Word Wars and the two coming combine? It's like a miniature birthday. LOOK AT THAT GLORIOUS SIGN. IT'S MAGICAL. Okay, to get to the point, since they are having a word war, at the end of each of my posts, I'm going to post how many words I wrote at the end of the day. So if the posts come late in the day, it's for that reason. Thanks everybody! (And if you comments, we could decided on some Word Warring. :3)
Writing a book is fairly easy. Gathering ideas for books is easy too. But writing a story from beginning to end is another story. There are constant obstacles in your way. School is one of them, then there are outing/events, and then there is writers block.
I had so much writers block that I put away my story for two months. I could be half way through the book know if I had some idea what I was going too write. And, I could have already decided if I wanted too add another character to be essential to the book. But, I had to wait. I had to let my brain rest. Yet, there was a little part of me (hehe... I say little... I really mean gigantic part of me) really wanted to go back to writing. I wanted to just keep on writing. There were so many things that I wanted to write in my book. Yet, I was constantly stopped because of a fear that if I did this thing in my book, then it would go another way and make my book come to an end. And I didn't want to make this book into a series. That's what Ebinicah James series is for. Not this book. Writing may be a challenge. But it leaves you breathless when you've finished your masterpiece. Okie dokie, now it's time for Nex Gen Justice League. If you're new to this, here are all the parts: Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, and Part 4. "Welcome, welcome," A strange voice cried out. I shook myself awake to see the Mad Hatter, and his father, the Card Dealer, staring right in front of me. "Glad you've awoken," the Card Dealer said. "Umm... I'm not," I replied looking around. The whole entire place was a dump. The ground looked like mud was caked all over the floor, the ceilings were dripping green goop and the furniture was crashed all over the floor. "Why? Do you not like our humble home?" Mad Hatter pretended to look hurt but just laughed it off. "Uh, wouldn't it have been much easier and nicer for you two to settle in a Casino?" I asked. The two looked at each other, apparently not thinking about such a thing. "That isn't the point, the New Generation of the Light shall break down your barriers," the Card Dealer declared. New Generation of the Light? Breaking down our barriers? What did he mean by all of that? "Yo-you're not trying to get...," I froze in mid-sentence. "You are correct my dear, if we reach the graves of your beloved grandparents, we can make an army of your great superheroes and restore the great Savage!" the Card Deal exclaimed. "Spray her." The Mad Hatter came up to me, having an apologetic look on his face and sprayed me with purple gas from a flower. The Mind-Washing Gas. Thanks everybody! And stay in tune for next weeks!
Writers! YOU SHOULD BE WRITING!
In my last post, I told you that I went to Teen Author Boot Camp and had the time of my life, freaking out and enjoying all the writers and authors in one place. Everybody in that room shares one thing, they love to write (or will learn to love to write). Don't be afraid to yell to the world: I AM A WRITER! You should embrace that moment. LOVE THAT MOMENT! Since I love to do crazy things, I would do that. I'm pretty sure I would get a crowd of looks that say, 'Man, that girl is weird.' And I would just shyly chuckle and walk very quickly to my family.
Okay listen, the point that I'm TRYING to get across is that you should be writing. No matter what. It doesn't matter if you are terrible with grammar (that'll get fixed in the editing stage... don't worry) or allergic to words (no one is allergic to words..) or if you just don't think your story is good enough (YOUR STORY IS GOOD ENOUGH. WE ALL WANT TO READ IT!). In the end, your story is going to turn into a piece of art. And it WILL shine with all it's magnificent glory. You just have to be patient and finish your book (so that you may go on to the editing process!!! YAYAYAYAYAY!) You'll get it. Don't worry! :3 |
I am the Smol Scribble. I came to realize that, even though the first drafts of books aren't perfect, they are the closest to my heart...
