Happy New Years, Twisters!
It's a new year and that means new goals and a whole lot of new opportunities~ This past year, I regret doing so little regarding everything I did. School, I could have put a whole lot more effort into that, my Japanese class, I could have had a higher grade than my 96%, and I could have used my Bujo a lot more. Also, I regret not posting on the blog when I had the chance. I spent so much of my free time on YouTube or on Instagram that I didn't even have the decency to say, "Just A Quick Update!". That is why, this year, I'm going to change a WHOLE lot in my life.
And those are my resolutions! I'm so ready for this year. I feel as though it's going to be a great year and I really think that my goals are actually achievable.
What are your goals for 2018? Tell us in the comments below!
Hello Twisters! It's Bianca here.
For a school assignment this week, I had to make a 'creative multimedia presentation' about the questions: 'What inspires me?' And there is a lot that inspires me. Like, a whole lot. That is why I've decided to do the top 3 topics that inspire me.
Number 1 - Photography
And there is a specific type of photography. If you've ever heard of Unsplash (Charisma and I use their pictures a lot) then you know what type of photography I like. Yet, why do I like this specific type of photography?
Now, what do you see?
â Some might see the train from the movie The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. Others might see a far-off fantasy world where trains are the only means of travel. Even still, others might see something completely different! There is infinite possibilities one could see with a single image. And Unsplash has thousands of images like this!
That's why I like it.
Number 2 - Books
I love books. Books are my future (literally) and they are a means of transportation from reality to get a new perspective of reality (does that make sense?). One of my favorite books (of all time) is Charlie and the Grandmothers by Katy Towell. I think I've done a book review on this, but if I haven't, I will most definitely find the time to re-read this book and give you my thoughts.
For now, though, I'll do a quick sum up of why I loved the book.
The main character, Charlie, is easy to connect with and he has such a sad backstory. After we're introduced to the characters, we immediately get into the plot. I have read plenty of books where the plot begins at the very start of the book, but then, we have to go back into the characters past to get background knowledge, which gets very repetitive. Other books have their plot in chapter 2 halfway, but oh ho ho! Not this book!
And the main villain was beyond amazing. I have NEVER EVER, and I cannot stress this to you enough, met a villain with such passion, vigor, and tactics that could tear a person apart. And, in all reality, this villain can't really die (I don't think).
So I was pleased. This book tickled all my happy spots of reading desires.
But I still haven't answered the question on why books inspire me. Well, let me ask a question. When in a tough situation, have you not asked for multiple insights?
It's the same for reading. I have an idea, but I read books to help grow that idea into multiple ideas and so on. And that's how books inspire me.
Number 3 - Music
If someone had to come up to me and ask me what my favorite type of music is, I would respond, "Classical and Trap."
Oh boy, oh boy do I love my music.
Music is like reading a book and looking at pictures, but you get to do this with your ears. And, the best part is... you can listen to music whenever.
Whenever I feel sad, I listen to music.
Whenever I'm happy, I listen to music.
Whenever I'm frustrated, I listen to music.
Now that you know the things that inspire me, I want to explain why they inspire me. Well, when I look at pictures, read a book, or listen to music, I have this overwhelming feeling of 'Nothing's Impossible'. And I love that feeling. So having that feeling all the time doing something so simple as just reading a few words strung into a sentence? That's absolutely amazing!
That is is for today Twisters! What are some things that inspire you? Why do they inspire you?
Until Next Time... Adieu.
School, for me anyway, starts August 17th. Unbelievable right? We've had 3-ish months of summer and, to be honest, I am so glad to be going back to school. I've missed it really badly. Why did I miss it? Because I wanted to be busy, I wanted to keep myself occupied and when someone gives you no chose but to occupy yourself, I find it very encouraging (especially if I want to do it!). The best part about school is that I'm taking mostly 10th-grade classes. Biology, Geometry, Honors English, Art in World Cultures (ELECTIVE), HOPE (this is P.E.), Civics (Charisma and I could've taken this in 8th grade but my parents didn't want us too), and Digital Literacy (it's required. Trust me, I tried to get out of it....). :D I'm going to be so busy! :D
My Japanese is going well, although I would like better sources for vocabulary and grammar (those are the two things I'm currently working on). Or maybe, I don't know, a teacher? As some of you might know, it's my goal to take a college course for Japanese at my local community college while in 10th grade. That is why I must get all A's on my report card. I'm an over-achiever when it comes to school. If I don't get an A or a B, I will be absolutely shattered, but I would still tell my parents that I got a low score, because they'll either help me, remind me of my goal, tell me to get help from a teacher if I'm really struggling with a certain concept, and a whole lot more.
I'm digitally editing a character that I drew! And let me tell you, *laughs*, I don't have anything fancy. No SAI, no Wacom Cintiq or Intuos, no Photoshop. Nada. Zilch. Nothing. All I've got is my handy-dandy, scanner, Paint (which is already installed on every computer), and my imagination. And truthfully, I am terrified. This is the scariest experience of my artist life. (I have several lives: Writer's Life, Artist's Life, Blogger's Life, Over-Achiever's Life, Crocheter's Life, Reader's Life, OTAKU's Life, Family Person's Life, and Outstanding-Amazing Friend's Life. I have nine lives unless someone can see more of my lives that I can't see... One might say I have nine lives. :D) Since I've never done this before (and since I have ZERO LAYERS. I didn't know what layers did before, but now I know that layers ARE A BLESSING!!! Do not take those beauties for granted!) I'm watching my sister (who is digital editing too) while she gives me tips, and I'm re-doing everything for the Umpteenth time. Though, I will survive.
I read a variety of good books this summer (don't worry, I'm gonna do some Book Reviews before school starts) and now I have found my favorite Female author: Katy Towell. I love her so much, that reading the two books she published were satisfaction for a week. Her books are all the scary, friendship, terrifying-suspenseful moments I could ever want in a book! :D Her website is called Skary and, I believe, she's working on another book (oh am I excited!).
I've had one for a while know but, I'm finally on Miiverse! I've put several posts from my gaming experiences on Demo's and full games, although they're all from Nintendo. I've posted some Style Savvy: Trendsetters and Fashion Forward, some Pokemon X and some other games as well. I'm trying to earn the money to buy some games (Animal Crossing: New Leaf is NEXT on my list. Unless someone convinces me otherwise), yet that's taking a whole lot longer than anticipated.
So yup! This is life. I hope all of you have a great rest of summer break!
Life, people. I love it. I have NEVER had such a fun/happy/crazy summer like this one. And let me tell you, I have literally done NOTHING to laugh. I just laughed at everything. Music, pictures, animes, cartoons, food, I don't know how I do it, I just love to laugh.
Schools starts August 17th for me and Charisma. I am so steamed. I wanted school to start on August 15th and then I totally forgot about this 'stagger start' thing. Ugh. When I want school people, I want school. But, now that I think about it, I'm actually quite thankful. I can get ahead in Science (the subject that doesn't love me and I don't love it) and so that way I can better understand the content that I'm being taught and then I can get an A! :3 I'm ready school (except I don't have my planner just yet....).
My Japanese is going good. I'm trying to find a teacher on the site called iTalki, I have the teacher (is she a tutor?) that I want to study with but a one hour session cost 9 dollars. I'm not worried about the nine dollars part, I'm just worried that my mother won't let me use iTalki.
Capital Kings, an American pop, electronic and Christian pop group, released an album called (II) last year in October and I absolutely love this album. My favorite song so far has to be Northern Sky, then it would have to be Live For The Drop.
I haven't been writing lately, that's the reason I haven't updated My Writing Journey in quite some time. I'm thinking about editing Another Imagination soon, I just don't know how I'm going to print it... Why is that still a problem for me?
Surprisingly, I have NOT read much of anything this summer. I've read some Pokemon manga, but that's it. Well, now I've got something to do. I need to go see what books I can get at the library...
Well that's pretty much it! How's your summer going?
Before I begin this lovely post, I must tell you a short little story that I had with Charisma today. I was minding my own business and doing school when I said aloud, "What are the factors of 63?". Charisma then asked, "Piggy Fruit?"
PIGGY FRUIT PEOPLE.
I began laughing (because I couldn't believe she said Piggy Fruit) and said, "What?!" in between my hysterical dolphin/hyena (I either call my laugh a hyolphin or a dolphyena). And then she went on to say, "J-Just don't listen to me....".
At the time, it was hilarious, but looking back it's super sad. :D I guess that's what makes it funny.
Alright! Now on to the actual post!
Let's begin with the Advantages:
Mind Reading Powers
Yes it's a thing. Twins are born with it and they just have this type of connection. When one gets hurt, the other feel injured. When one is separated from the other, they both feel lost and confused (this happens to be my experience with Charisma and I KNOW there are other types of twins out there, so ask about their experiences too). And twins can finish each other sentences or they can say the act same thing at the exact same time that you were going to.
Let me expand on something: Finishing Each Other Sentences
Crying, Singing, Dancing
YOU GET TO DO THIS WITH YOUR BEST FRIEND. Isn't that just great? To sing a random song in the backseat while your older sisters and parents are having a serious conversation (someone needs to lighten the mood), to dance in the grocery store (we've actually been complemented many times for doing this), to cry at everything Marvel, DC Comics, books, anime's and etc. (We ALL know that Anime's and Books kill hearts.) So it's nice to know that you don't have to do it alone.
Loves The Same Thing
Since twins are still human, we each have different things we like, what we don't like, and so forth. But, there are just some things that we absolutely adore (and it's because we get each other hooked and then in the near future we blame each other for getting hooked on something... because we love it to much.)
And those are the advantages! There are plenty more, don't feel as if that's it, but I can't remember them (I had this whole post planned out and I forgot like half of what I wanted to talk about....!!) Now, we're off to the Disadvantages:
Since your twin is your absolute best friend, it sort of feels VERY hard to find another best friend (you know, that's outside of your family). And it's really sad because you WANT to make another best friend.
The Third Wheel
I always feel that whenever I make a new friend, I become the third wheel (BUT HEY. I'm to happy to let that bother me!). Although I feel as if when we (meaning me and Charisma) make a new friend together then our new friend will either be bombarded by questions or feel like the third wheel (because Charisma and I like to talk among ourselves as well). And that makes me feel really bad because I DON'T WANT TO LEAVE ANYONE OUT!!! It makes me sad.... :'(
Since twins are connected we do everything together. So if one of us wants to have a private conversation with our mother or father, the other isn't allowed (which I don't understand because later on we're going to tell each other). Although, those alone talks our very helpful because being a twin can be hard sometimes. This brings us to our next topic:
You remember when I said that twins tell each other everything and add on to a conversation when the other just doesn't know what to say? Well, that can get VERY aggravating. Especially when, in the first place, you were handling the conversation rather well and, two, you could actually think (I'm not sure, but I think that I can actually put more words together when I'm a good distance away from Charisma. It doesn't mean I don't love her to death, it's just that when ever I see her I want to tell her a bunch, but I still want to talk to the human beings that I'm friends with--this will bring us to our next topic). Weird and confusing, right?
And it is VERY annoying when the twin adds UN-NEEDED information. That's when it's the worst and most aggravating.
Morse Code... For Twins
Well, I guess this can be placed as both an Advantage and Disadvantage. The reason being is that when you talk in public areas, Charisma and I can talk about the most RANDOM-EST things ever. But it's also very annoying when an adult, who has NO idea what we're talking about (we could be talking about school), says 'You two should be talking about something that could effect (or is it affect?!) people's lives.'
That just hurts.
And then... we become silent. It hurts when people say that. Honestly it does. There isn't a lot we can talk about except what we know (which is techincally games, books, games, anime's, games, manga's, games, Marvel, games, DC Comics, school, knitting, crocheting... you get the idea). AND WE'RE HOMESCHOOLED FOR PETE'S SAKE. Not a lot of interaction (WEELLLLL other than teachers of course and time to time we do get open chat).
It's also very sad when you're talking to a friend and they don't have any idea what we're talking about. Because you want to talk about it with them! And, yes, at times, it is nice to have everyone ignore you and just talk (yes, it does feel nice during some occasions) with your best friend. (But we don't want to hear snarky remarks because of that...)
So yes! I absolutely LOOOOVVVVEEEE being a twin. I've handled a lot of situations with Charisma, so I'm used to (almost) everything. I wouldn't trade Charisma out for the world. Sometimes I wonder why people say 'Oh, I wish I had a twin'.
Do you have anymore questions about being a twin? Do you have a twin? Or do you have a best friend that's like your twin? Tell us in the comments!
We're learning Japanese! I know, I know, it's a big surprise, but we're doing it! ALTHOUGH, we aren't doing it through school. We're doing it old-school style (a.k.a. that means we're doing it through different websites).
The websites that we're using are:
Our mother said that if we got REALLY good grades in our freshmen year (which is 9th grade. I'm still not use to the whole sophomore, junior thing....) then we can go to our community college and take Japanese there!! In 10th grade!! So that is my goal. To get really good grades in my freshen year to get Japanese (and go to college.. hehe!) in my sophomore year. Oh I am so excited! :D
Can anyone recommend any good Japanese books that I should buy (or look into buying?)
Well everyone, have a good day!
I guess by now everyone is wondering why we don't post everyday. The reason why is because we're either doing school, reading, listening to music, or checking out cool blogs. And now, I am ready to present some of the blogs we just love to look at!
I'm sure I've missed plenty of blogs, but that's all I can remember at this current moment in time. I hope all of you enjoyed looking/reading about all the blogs that me and my sister love and we hope that you enjoy them too!
What blogs do you like? Come on and tell us in the comments! Also, I asked my mother my mother if she would mind if Charisma and I did giveaway's in the future and she said that she wouldn't mind if we did that. So keep your eyes peeled for a giveaway.
Once again, you must travel back in time to yesterday (that's the only way this post will make sense) and as you finish remember that no one can travel back in time (WELLLL, technically, that's no true because you have your memories and memories are your gate way to the past. So, you know, if you look at it that way....).
Tomorrow, yes tomorrow, will be the beginning of 2016. Janurary will begin, school will start the second semester, a lot of exciting shows and movies will be coming out, people will be wishing that the holidays weren't over, and it's going to be the year of the presidential election.
Wow. Put it like that and 2016 sounds scary (except for the show/movies part). I don't want to bore you with why I put the 'presidential election' thing-a-ma-gig-er up there, but this years wanna-be presidents don't thrill me. At all. And I don't like politics much so I guess that could be a reason why too.
I'll try not to think of 2016 very much (how can I not think of 2016?!!???! It's literally tomorrow!!!).
Charisma and I have started our Marvel movie watching! Meaning we've only seen Hulk (2003 version), Iron Man (you know, the one with Robert Downey Junior? The very first one?), and Thor (the one and only Chris Hemsworth is in it). Our next movie is Captain America with the dreamy Chris Evans. Eeep! I am so excited! :D
Charisma and I have been working on collaborative stories together for a good while (none of them seem to be going, if you know what I mean) and I've been wanting to make this RPG board game for quite some time (maybe something like Dungeons and Dragons?). But the question that's been stopping me from making the game (all you need is rules, character classes and a pair of dice.... Right?) is should I make it into a book before I make it into a game (I have made some characters that I really want people to enjoy and have fun reading, but would it be cooler that the characters I made were mentors and went on journeys with the RPG-er's?) or should I make the game first and incorporate that into a book? Yup, I know. C-O-N-F-U-S-I-N-G.
I don't even have a name yet.... Oh well! I'll think of one (sooner or later).
Does anyone have their New Year's Resolution written down yet? I don't (because I usually write it down at night time).
Well, I must be off! I'm a late little bunny and I have things to do.
Yesterday, I was looking at one of my favorite blogs: Tricia Mingerink - The Pen of a Ready Writer
She's super awesome! :D
She got tagged in this Infinity Dreams Award and she left it as an open tag so that anyone could do it with the same questions. I thought it would be cool if I participated in it and tagged some people at the end. :3
Also, here is Tricia doing this awesome award:
-Thank the person who nominated you.
-Answer their 11 questions
-Nominate 11 other bloggers and ask them 11 questions.
Who is your favorite villain (either the one whom most love to hate or the one whom you actually cheer for)?
I'll do movie/show and book. My favorite movie/show villain has to be Megatron. I haven't seen any of the Transformers movies, but I've seen some Transformers show like the lovely Transformers: Prime. Megatron is actually super diabolical. He is usually a step ahead of the Autobots, he commands all of the Decepticons, he has a space bridge, he has almost everything. Yet he can never defeat Optimus Prime. :3
My favorite book villain is actually a group of villains. They are called the Cloak Society from the book the Cloak Society by Jeremy Kraatz. Now these villains. They are always a few yards away from the good guys. They plan out every little detail and step. Every one. They calculate every outcome and they know how the heroes are going to play when it's their turn. They are the perfect definition of villain.
Do you have a favorite food, and what is it?
I don't have a favorite food. I like almost everything.
So if you had to choose one element (fire, water, air, or earth), which one would you choose and why?
This is so hard! I've been thinking about this answer ever since I've watched the Avatar: The Last Airbender show. It's a tie between water and earth. For water, there is the ability to heal and create ice, but earth... the ability in bending both earth and metal! That's just super cool. I'm just going to pick both. :3
If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live?
Well, I like places with mountains, and the awesome change of all the seasons.. so maybe Japan. ;3
Who is your favorite supporting character (movies, TV, or books)?
I'm going to say Benet from The Magic Thief by Sarah Prineas. <--- She is one of my absolute favorite authors! :D
What is one interesting or weird quirk about you?
I'm not sure what... oh! So I have these crazy obsession things. Bianca finds something awesome about.. lets just say Legend of Zelda. Then, I go searching for awesome pictures and music on all things Legend of Zelda. We talk about LoZ for a LONG time, and when something new comes along - like Transformers - I start to obsess over that. Yup.
What is your favorite topic to learn about?
It depends on the school year. Right now, I super love Science and Literary Analysis and Composition.
I think all of you write, so who is your favorite character that you have created?
O.O I don't know.... I'm going to say Todd. He's just super awesome. He's that amazing guy who's super determined and will complete that task even if he's injured (which is so stubborn, but sweet).
If you could bring one person from the past to the present, whom would you bring?
Abraham Lincoln, probably.
You can jump into any one fictional world. Which one would you choose?
The world across the Way in the Winterling series by Sarah Prineas.
What is your favorite drink?
Chick-fil-a Lemonade (with the yummy chunky chocolate chip cookies).
Yeah! :D Now for tagging people:
Bri at The World of the Writer
Kirsten at PoohLoversUnite
Alexa at Summer Snowflakes
Ana at Butterflies of the Imagination
Annie at Curious Wren
Emily at the Hero Singer
Yup! Those are the lovely people I'm tagging. :D
Here are the questions:
1. What's your absolute favorite book currently?
2. If you could hang out with 2 character from any movie, show and/or book, who would they be?
3. What's your favorite season?
4. If you could pick one character to portray you in the movie of your life, who would that 1 person be? (You can pick from any movie, book and show.)
5. What's your favorite type of flower?
6. What's your favorite instrument?
7. What is your favorite genre?
8. Pick one character from any movie, show or book, and pick a candy to describe them. What candy would they be?
9. What's your favorite movie?
10. What's your favorite OTP pair?
11. What's your favorite song?
Thank so much! Please comment about your favorite author!
The Cloak Society is a trilogy by Jeremy Kraatz.
The Cloak Society has wonderful lessons that I couldn't begin to describe the amazingness of.
The Cloak Society has ruined and my life... It's one of my favorite books that I have to own.
Okay, so the Cloak Society trilogy didn't really ruin my life, but it's over. I finished all 3 books. I want more though! It was a very happy ending, but... You know those books that have great endings and you totally love it, it's just that you're craving more awesomeness? Yeah, I'm there. -_- Not the greatest way to feel.
I am very happy for Mr. Kraatz for writing this book. It's absolutely wonderful! :D I totally give it 5 stars! :3
I recommend this book to everyone 13 and older.
What books are you totally in love with? Tell me in the comments! :D
